In August, xByte Technologies was named a Florida Company to Watch by GrowFL. Only 50 out of over 600 nominees receive this unique and prestigious annual award. Companies are nominated, and then undergo a series of evaluations, ranging from number of employees and economic growth to entrepreneurial leadership and corporate culture. GrowFL recognizes that a company’s capacity for growth and success is not just measured by numbers, but also strong leadership and the team within the organization.
The award ceremony took place Thursday, October 23rd in Orlando, Florida at the Hard Rock Live. The ceremony started with a happy hour meet-and-mingle, followed by a presentation and award recognition, and then dinner and dessert.
Being named a Florida Company to Watch is such an honor. xByte Technologies is a company built on doing business by the “Golden Rule” and we take pride in providing customers with outstanding service. It’s amazing to look back and see how far the company has come over the past decade, from starting in a living room in Gainesville to now calling a 30,000 sq ft building in Bradenton home. It’s been an amazing and fulfilling journey, and xByte looks forward to continued growth and success.
xByte Technologies’ “bundle discount promotion” in September was so successful, we’ve received many requests to extend the promotion. Pick the Winner Based on Your Needs
With Dell’s recent release of the 13th generation R730, many might be wondering if the R720 and R710 are still relevant. The answer is yes, and it is based on your needs. Between each generation we saw performance gains jumping from Intel 5600 series all the way through to the new E5 V3 Grantly platforms, but depending on your needs “Is the cost per slight percentage performance gains needed, or could it be overkill?”. The R730 is on the new DDR4 memory platform, but DDR3 memory spec for the R710/R720 is still very viable for normal workloads, even though each generation ups the MHz speed, the performance difference is very minute. Max memory capacity is also something to consider with large memory needs, but between all three machines you’re likely going to be covered in terms of capacity for small to medium sized applications. All three generations are also going to support the latest in SAS, Sata, and SSD technologies, although the R730 is now breaking the 6Gbps barriers previously known by the other two generations. We also have had an evolution in remote management capabilities between each generation, seeing a new iteration of Dell’s iDrac platforms, but all only offer slight improvements over the next, while still offering the baseline feature set you have come to know and love. While there are some improvements over each generation, the R720 and R710 models are still great options, especially for a budget savvy IT Pro. It really depends on your needs.
